Terms of Service
Last updated:
1. Who we are
The modernbots.app website and the Modern Bots Discord bots are published by the Creators Area group.
Contact: zaros@creatorsarea.fr
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States.
2. What these terms cover
These terms apply as soon as you add one of our bots to a Discord server, use one of its commands, or visit modernbots.app. If you do not accept them, remove the bot and stop using the site.
They apply on top of the Discord Terms of Service and the Discord Community Guidelines, which you must also follow. You need to be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live requires it, which is the same rule Discord applies.
3. What the service is
Modern Bots is a range of Discord bots meant to help you run your community. We may add, change or remove features at any time.
4. Adding a bot to a server
Only add a bot to a server you are allowed to administer. By adding it, you confirm that you have the permissions to do so, and you take responsibility for how it is configured on that server.
5. Automated moderation is not perfect
Our bots’ automated features decide without human intervention. They will sometimes miss what they should have caught, and sometimes flag what they should not have. We do not guarantee that everything is caught, nor that no legitimate message is ever sanctioned. We do everything we can to keep improving them and to give you the best service we can.
You keep control: sanctions are configurable, up to and including log only, and every automated decision can be reviewed and reverted by your moderators. Do not rely on the bot as your only line of defence.
6. What you may not do
You may not:
- use the bots to harass, spy on, or profile members of a server;
- deliberately try to break, overload or bypass the bots, the website or their APIs;
- probe the detection to find out what gets through, in order to distribute scams;
- resell, rent out, or present the service as your own;
- use the service for anything illegal.
We can suspend or block access for a server, a user, or an entire account, without notice, if one of these rules is broken or if the service is being abused.
7. Availability
The service is provided as is, without any guarantee of availability. We may interrupt it for maintenance, or stop it entirely. We will try to give notice on the support server when we can.
8. Liability
To the extent allowed by Belgian law, we are not liable for indirect damage resulting from the use of the service, such as loss of data, loss of members, or harm to a server’s reputation. Nothing here limits our liability for fraud or for intentional fault.
Moderation decisions taken on your server, whether automated or made by your moderators, remain the responsibility of that server’s administrators.
9. Intellectual property
The name Modern Bots, the website, and the source code of the bots belong to the Creators Area group. These terms do not transfer any right over them.
Content posted by your members on your server stays yours and theirs. We only process it to run the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page always shows the last change. A significant change will be announced on the support server. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new version.
11. Applicable law
This site and the Modern Bots services are governed exclusively by Belgian law.
Any dispute, disagreement or claim arising from the use of the site, its content or its services falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the judicial district of Brussels, to the exclusion of any other jurisdiction. By using the service, you accept that attribution of jurisdiction and expressly waive bringing proceedings before any other court.
